New from old Barrels arrive!!

"Yesterday", everything used to be sent in wooden packaging....barrels of fish, of salt, and of sugar. Today's, new shop product is not all about what was inside..rather it is thee outside, the container itself, the old barrels that are the centre of attention. These new products are all made from (recycled) barrels... into candleholders, wine bottle holders, serving trays, shelves...handsome real (used) hard working barrels turned into charming outport-functional housewares. Everything old is transformed into wonderfully new again...I just luv 'em! We invite you to drop by the King's Point Pottery Gallery and see the traditional old barrel totally reinvented for 2012. Oh and did I mention they are so affordable..with items starting at just $20.00!

The AFTER...the Gallery section is OPEN!

View from the new archway into the new light filled 400 sq ft gallery space.
Years in the planning and an entire winter/spring of construction...equals it is (structurally) DONE! Over double the retail floor space (just in time for our 20th anniversary), the new fine craft gallery looks some good (to me)!
Birds eye view from the trees above.
As well, we look forward to many-many more internal changes each and every year with new artists and ideas. Special thanks to Pop aka Calvin Yates for all the custom shelves and tables and Dennis Burt for his assistance with the tuckamore trees.
View of the antique yellow hutch and out towards the bay.
We hope you will be able to find the time to drop down to our town of King's Point and see all there is.... here at the gallery, at the restaurants, at the trails, at the museums, at the accommodations...The town has become a real Central Newfoundland destination! (Check out the new Newfoundland and Labrador Travel Guide...featuring the Town of King's Point + the Pottery + the Cafe + Tom's store...!)

View back to the centre of the middle portion of the craftshop.
More pictures soon!

Philosopher's Stone returns to Kings Point Pottery Fine Craft Gallery

As those of you who have been here before know I love stone and I love love love these peoples unbelievable work! (I not so secretly wish I could keep it all.) Artists John, Tamar and family create in a very quiet area of rural Nova Scotia, Rosebud...and we are so lucky to be able to carry their very limited hand production work. Did you know they are the original stone vessel makers here in Canada, starting their business in 1993. Philosophers Stone's work really speaks to me...with a very calming voice. If you like stone you will love shopping here at Kings Point Pottery. We just received a new shipment..over 100 passionate lbs!
